Carl Folta

Carl Folta provides strategic communications counsel to companies and senior executives, drawing on his more than thirty-five years of leadership in the communications field, with particular expertise in the media and entertainment industries. He has a broad range of experience in high-stakes, high profile engagements involving financial communication and reputational challenges, including mergers and acquisitions, transactions, crisis communication, litigation and trial support, reputational management, corporate governance disputes and financial and investor relations programs.

Prior to joining H/Advisors Abernathy, Carl headed global corporate communications for the media company Viacom Inc, from 1994 to 2016, serving the company’s chief public relations strategist and spokesperson and responsible for the company’s philanthropic and corporate social responsibility programs, as well as overall communication activities. He joined Viacom following the company’s acquisition of Paramount Communications Inc. (formerly Gulf+Western Industries, Inc.), where he held various communications roles of increasing responsibility since 1984. He began his career at Ruder & Finn, a leading independent PR firm, in 1979.
